I have learned why crealitys next-Gen printers dont extrude the most consistent and besides there Top of the line machines are really hard to get that perfect first layer the extruder gears that make contact dont have a curved grove its straight cut but is still the same size gear which causes either Way too loose grip or Air Bubbles in your hotened garunteed from my 500hrs of testing with different tensions on my Ender 5 S1

Cool idea, but.... Well, when you buy from China, your gonna get crap. Buy quality lead screws locally and you get very little need to fix an issue cheaply made part created.

It's been two years - is this still ongoing? This is such an important project, not just to learn more about existing hot-ends, but by analyzing the final data hot end manufacturers could learn a lot about how to improve their products further. I really hope this project is still ongoing.

I simply don't understand how they can make straight gear teeth and claim to know about engineering - no one uses straight but gear teeth when any kind of precision is needed in any industry!

That gyroscopic driver is trash and only appeals to hobbyists who like the novelty and not the actual function. Really not worth it compared to a non gyro driver unless maybe you got arthritis specifically in your index finger. Source: 4 years of experience in industrial work assembling anything from 2 - 30mm diameter threads. Traditional pistol grips work just fine and drivers like the Makita DF012DSE are also very ergonomical. Some additional general advice for installing screws: Only use drivers to set a screw 99% of the way with the lowest torque possible, then tighten it by hand if precision torque tooling is not required. The actual torque output through the ratcheting mechanism is influenced by how much charge the battery has left so it will never be consistent.

That's nifty, too bad it's only available from aliexpress. I stopped using them because they got less than half of my orders to me and of those about 10% were functional, I was refurbishing retro handhelds at the time and them and lockdowns basically killed that business. I hope these take off and you can start offering them elsewhere, or someone stocks them for their web-store. Good luck, hope you make your millions.

I recently went with the HGX Lite. It has dual 18mm helical concaved extruder gears. This video made me aware of the concaved issue and the difference is the HGX lite runs the extruder gears on needle bearings allowing the gears to slide on the shaft and always be centered. Prints are now amazing at any speed, VFA's are effectively gone. But even more noticeable is the extrusion consistency, for example i can run bridges at 250mm/s now that look and perform far better than before. The HGX lite is NOT perfect, and you have to be careful not to assemble it in a way that causes binging. Furthermore, i cleaned it out with WD-40 and compressed air, then assembled it to ensure no binding, ran it dry with no load to break it in, cleaned it out again!, then on final assembly added Super Lube (synthetic 30 weight with PTFE). I'm on about 500 hours of print time, with about half that enclosed at 50c. *printer runs at 200-325mm/s (0.4mm volcano nozzle) 5K acceleration

I know I'm late to the party on this one, but thank you for all your work on this and also thank you to Bondtech for the IDGA/RIDGA sets. I didn't realise this is where they stemmed from I just thought it was a cool innovation, but I really love them for my extruders, since changing my gears sets to genuine Bondtech parts my prints are so much better, no more knock off copies for me!

Nice job! I don't know why none of the manufacturers offer servos. The quiet operation is worth a premium to me, and I'm sure at least 25% of those who buy and actually use printers. In the hobby CNC world, nema 23 servos can be bought all day long for $100 per axis by consumers. The printer sized motors would probably be way cheaper at volume.
